Professor Zhao Hua introduced the latest scientific and research achievements on internal-combustion engine (ICE for short) in Brunel University, answered the questions fromYuchai technological staff and briefly explained his understanding on the developing tendency of ICE market. They achieved initial cooperation intention on production & research in friendly communication atmosphere, and finally formed frame agreement of production & research cooperation. General Manager Li Tiansheng signed on the agreement on behalf of Yuchai. According to the agreement, Yuchai will employ Professor Zhao as a member of Yuchai Technology Commission, and Li Tiansheng awarded the appointment letter to Professor Zhao.

British Burnel University is an excellent public university famous for its high-grade research, teaching quality and fine relationship with industrial and commercial enterprises. On March 3^rd, 2008, ZF (China) Investment Co., Ltd and Industrial Truck Institution of China Construction Machinery Association (CITA for short) held technology seminar of forklift transmission system in the meeting room in Jiangnan Shipyard Building of ZF Shanghai Branch. More than 20 people from 12 units attended the meeting. They are Mr. Markus Kramer (Sales Director of China, ZF Construction Machinery and Forklift System), Mr. Chris Menger (Key Account Manager of ZF Forklift System Head Office), Mr. Donadella (Zapi General Manager of China), Mr. Burani (Key Account Manager in Zapi Head Office), Secretary General Su Enyi and Executive Vice General-Secretary Zhang Jie of CITA, leaders and technological superintendents from domestic forklift enterprises such as Dalian Forklift, Ruyi, Huli, Baoli, Good Friend and Longgong. On the seminar, representative of ZF introduced their products, application situation and technical advantage, and answered some questions.

The seminar issued another important content: German ZF and Italian Zapi jointly announced that since Feb. 7^th, 2008, ZF Gotha GmbH and Zapi S.p.A had gone to a new era of coopertation, and they would provide systematic transmission schemes for electric forklift. The cooperation of the two market leaders will undoubtedly bring customers great profit in electric forlklift field.

At present, electric forklifts in China has gone to development stage, and the export situation is good. How to improve the key technoloty becomes the problem each enterprise has to face. CITA hopes that domestic enterprises can have wider space to choose and exert their technology through the deeper development of ZF and Zapi in the field of industrial trucks in China.

The seminar finished successfully. Representatives of the enterprises support CITA to organize such technology seminar, and show strong interests in the product solution to be launched jointly by ZF and Zapi in the future.

Konecranes President & CEO Pekka Lundmark's presentation at today's Annual General Meeting includes comments to the recent development in the demand for Konecranes' products and services.

"The development in the first two months of the year gives reason for optimism. Order intake has continued to increase in January-February and the number of new inquiries were on a high level, also in the United States," Lundmark comments.

The 2008 outlook was reiterated.

Vietnam International Container Terminals (VICT) has made an agreement to purchase 17 Kalmar E-One+ rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes for handling a sharp rise in container traffic at its Ho Chi Minh City facility.

The 6+1 wide and 1-over-6 high units will offer VICT improved productivity and a more reliable operation, not to mention the intrinsic environmental benefits of Kalmar’s green, productive and uncompromising all-electric E-One+ model.

The new units will replace some of the older RTGs at the facility. The Kalmar RTGs will be delivered between 2008 and 2010.

VICT turned to Kalmar again for the supply of innovative equipment after experiencing great success in the operation of its Kalmar DRF450-75S5XS reachstacker, specially engineered for barge handling.

Joseph Wann, Managing Director of VICT, says: “VICT is strategically located at the crossroads of inland transport serving both road and waterways, therefore, it was paramount that our boom in containerised traffic be handled in a safe, productive and cost-efficient way. RTG operations fuel Vietnam’s growth

Requests for Kalmar E-One+ RTGs in Vietnam have gone from strength to strength with repeat orders from Saigon Newport Company (SNP) in 2007. The port operator has ordered a total of 20 RTGs for Phase I of its Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Container Terminal, currently under construction on the Thi Vai River as part of a greenfield port development just outside of Ho Chi Minh City.

The 6+1 wide and 1-over-5 high units will come equipped with Kalmar’s container position verification system, Smartpath®. Delivery is scheduled to be completed in November 2008.

Geoff Conrad, Cummins General Manager - Marine, made the announcement today at a press conference hosted by the EPA.

The Final Marine Engine Rule is intended to reduce emissions from diesel-fuelled engines installed in marine vessels and locomotives. The legislation completes a series of national emissions standards that apply to diesel engines used for a range of major applications.

Due to the unique installation requirements of both marine and locomotive applications, as well as the resources and infrastructure in place to service these markets, Cummins and the EMA worked closely with the EPA on the development of the legislation and its implementation schedule.

Industry experts and marine designers were enlisted to perform a thorough analysis of the ruling's impact on both the design and operation of a vessel to ensure the industry could continue to operate while achieving a meaningful reduction of emissions.

"With the implementation of this rule, clean diesel is no longer an oxymoron, but a proven, efficient, cost-effective and clean technology that powers our nation's economy," Conrad said. "This rule establishes difficult stretch goals for the industry, but we are prepared to meet the challenge."
